Water Wise 7th Ward

A Reforestation Master Plan is more than a plan to plant trees — it is a long-term roadmap for creating a healthier, greener and more resilient neighborhood.

In an urban community like New Orleans’ Seventh Ward, a reforestation master plan identifies where trees are needed most, what species should be planted, how the trees will be cared for, and how the community can help protect and grow its tree canopy for generations to come.

A strong urban forest can help cool our streets and homes, reduce flooding and stormwater runoff, improve air quality, provide habitat for wildlife, beautify our neighborhoods, and create healthier public spaces for residents.

And in New Orleans, this work is especially important. Our city continues to rebuild a tree canopy devastated by Hurricane Katrina while confronting extreme heat, stronger storms and flooding.

🌱 The Seventh Ward Reforestation Master Plan is about planting for the future — creating a greener, cooler, healthier and more resilient Seventh Ward for generations to come.
